Here at Solatube Global Marketing, we have been celebrating the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies (IYL 2015) along with hundreds of other sponsors and partners all across the globe. There have been scientists, artists, students, and politicians who have helped to highlight the importance of light and daylight all throughout the year. We asked our fans on Facebook how daylight has impacted their lives and we saw some great examples!
Although 2015 and the International Year of Light are coming to an end soon that doesn’t mean we turn our attention away from the light. No! Now is the time, as the darkness begins to deepen in the Northern Hemisphere, to celebrate the light and the daylight … to prepare for the return of the sun next year!
It’s no wonder that as the nights get longer and the days get shorter that we see more and more lights inside and out. Here in the Portland/Vancouver area near Solatube Global Marketing headquarters the Christmas lights are going up making the evenings brighter and cheerier.
Across the world, people are celebrating Diwali (or Deepawali), the festival of lights! Diwali is celebrated on the New Moon, the darkest time of the Hindu month of Kartika and usually falls between mid-October to mid-November. Like other holidays and celebrations this time of year, it’s a time to enjoy sweets, family, shopping, and beautiful lights.
As a people, we naturally celebrate light when the hours of daylight are more scarce, and for good reason! Daylight helps you sleep, improves your happiness and productivity at work, and light is the main treatment for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
Interested in bringing more daylight into your life this season? We here at Solatube Global Marketing have been working with Solatube Daylighting Devices for 25 years now so we know a thing or two about the subject.
